The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) regularly auctions private and cherished number plates through online timed auctions, which are typically held every other month. In addition to DVLA auctions, independent cherished number plate auctions also take place throughout the year.

Motor Marks Cherished Numbers & Personalised Registration Plates can act as your representative and bid at both DVLA auctions and independent cherished number plate auctions on your behalf.

Whether you’ve found a cherished number plate or private registration number you’d like to buy, or you’d simply prefer an experienced team to handle the auction process, we’ll represent you from bidding through to completion.

How It Works

Getting started is simple:

Contact us by telephone, email or via the contact form on our website.
Tell us which cherished number plate(s) or private registration number(s) you would like us to bid on.
Specify your maximum bid for each registration.
We will act as your representative and bid on your behalf at the auction.
If we are successful in purchasing your chosen registration number, we will guide you through the purchase, payment and number plate transfer process.

Our Fee

We only charge if we are successful.

Successful bid: £200 + VAT
Unsuccessful bid: No charge

Additional Auction Costs

If your bid is successful, you will also need to pay the auction charges, which typically include:

Your winning bid amount
The auction buyer’s premium (currently 3%)
VAT at 20%
The £80 DVLA assignment fee

Payment for successful bids is normally required in full within five days, in accordance with the auction terms and conditions.
